Exploring frontiers. Paolo Dalprato...

Exploring frontiers While some of us push the limits of B&W photography and others explore color, Paolo Dalprato, Photographer investigates the intersection of the two. His Collections cover some unusual subjects.

Paolo has a lot to say about his philosophy of photography in the "About" link on his old Google+ Profile page:

"I have a very emotional approach to photography, I am convinced that the knowledge of the technique is fundamental, but it is just a tool to use to say something or convey emotions or just represent beauty...

"I also work in the music and most of the pictures are related to That environment, taken mostly during concerts of classical music but also jazz musicians, buskers and tango dancers. In this case, I try to portray the artist and not the person, in other words I portray the personage. And if there is even the musical instrument my idea is to Represent a strange animal, half man, half tool that together become the musician...

"And in this little world when I use the colors sometimes I do it using what I call the arrogance of color, because I try colors capable of becoming the leading agents, no matter what they cover.

"The challenge is to see where others do not see, in short, have the photographer's eye. The black and white I think it is important to highlight the forms, areas of light and shadow, the masses and voids and this help to achieve an emotional mood."
Paolo's intro to urban photography elaborates on his photographic philosophy.

I leave Paolo's site with the impression that his favorite photo will always be the next one he takes!

Themes: Mark Hurn

Icebergs | Dead, ahead Lago Argentina - Provincia de Santa Cruz, Argentina Themes thread their way through a photographer's work.  Mark Hurn organizes his work into Collections. My favorite on Google+ was "Argentina...," a grand introduction to the country and its unique phenomena. Collections are stated themes, conscious, open and declared. Throughout Mark's work, however, runs another theme, private, deeper and more fascinating. He frequently expresses it as a personal characteristic on his posts, " I'm posting tonight instead of tomorrow, as I don't think I shall have time then... " Photography is a gift of time. Mark comments: "Some of this planet is still truly mesmerising... so can we lose the ego and stop destroying it now, while we're still here? Walk when you can, drive a smaller car, acclimatise to where you live and if you need an air conditioner, set it high (I use 30° C in summer). "Algunas partes de est

John Suler: Photographic Psychology

John Suler's Flickr Albums page (partial view) John Suler's perceptions are well worth your time considering. He is both observing and participating in the world of cyber photography. "It's a composition, stupid!" He wrote (perhaps with your help if you commented) a book that strives to take full advantage of social media. On Flickr John describes the project: "My whole photostream is an ongoing meditation on photographic psychology: how we create, share, and react to images, especially concerning digital photography and online photosharing, like here in flickr. "This set in Flickr contains some of my more highlighted aspects of Photographic Psychology, including essays that appear in my online book "Photographic Psychology: Image and Psyche." It’s a book about the design, interpretation, and psychological impact of visual images based on photography. As a psychologist, I will bring ideas from my field into this explorat

Maria Salvador makes it tough to choose a favorite!

Maria Salvador's old Google+ site (above) gives an idea of the quality & breadth of her work. Maria Salvador makes it tough to choose a favorite! Whether it comes to Flowers or Photographers Maria's posts are exquisitely selected. She is not afraid of tackling unusual subjects. From Photo album: Pixels dance - composites, collages & other textures on MeWe Sylvester, the dragon "Sylvester is a dreamer. He loves the ocean and sometimes he dreams of a world where the dolphins fly and the dragons dive and play together..." by Maria Salvador Maria Salvador is moving off Google +. Here is her final post on her "Flowers for Love" Google+ Collection: "Google+ seems to be falling down by pieces, so this will be my last post. You may find me, if you want, on Mewe: https://mewe.com/profile/5bc70b66a5f4e501fdeb3889 , where I met some nice Communities of photographers from G, and also on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/pho
