The photographer speaks!

The photographer speaks! To find such a thought-provoking first-person introduction is rare. Turns out I am no longer an amateur. I am an expert in training! (Apprenticed to you.) Thanks to Robin Griggs Wood for this insight and many more in her various Collections. Or should I say, Adventures?!

Themes: Mark Hurn

Icebergs | Dead, ahead Lago Argentina - Provincia de Santa Cruz, Argentina Themes thread their way through a photographer's work.  Mark Hurn organizes his work into Collections. My favorite on Google+ was "Argentina...," a grand introduction to the country and its unique phenomena. Collections are stated themes, conscious, open and declared. Throughout Mark's work, however, runs another theme, private, deeper and more fascinating. He frequently expresses it as a personal characteristic on his posts, " I'm posting tonight instead of tomorrow, as I don't think I shall have time then... " Photography is a gift of time. Mark comments: "Some of this planet is still truly mesmerising... so can we lose the ego and stop destroying it now, while we're still here? Maria Salvador makes it tough to choose a favorite!

Maria Salvador's old Google+ site (above) gives an idea of the quality & breadth of her work. Maria Salvador makes it tough to choose a favorite! From Photo album: Pixels dance - composites, collages & other textures on MeWe Sylvester, the dragon "Sylvester is a dreamer. He loves the ocean and sometimes he dreams of a world where the dolphins fly and the dragons dive and play together..." by Maria Salvador Maria Salvador is moving off Google +. Here is her final post on her "Flowers for Love" Google+ Collection: "Google+ seems to be falling down by pieces, so this will be my last post. You may find me, if you want, on Mewe: https://mewe.com/profile/5bc70b66a5f4e501fdeb3889 , where I met some nice Communities of photographers from G, and also on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/pho

Exploring frontiers. Paolo Dalprato...

Red sunset San Vigilio - Bergamo, Italy Exploring frontiers While some of us push the limits of B&W photography and others explore color, Paolo Dalprato, Photographer investigates the intersection of the two. His Collections cover some unusual subjects. A sampling of Collections on the Dalprato Galleries page Paolo has a lot to say about his philosophy of photography in the "About" link on his old Google+ Profile page: " I have a very emotional approach to photography , I am convinced that the knowledge of the technique is fundamental, but it is just a tool to use to say something or convey emotions or just represent beauty... " I also work in the music and most of the pictures are related to That environment, taken mostly during concerts of classical music but also jazz musicians, buskers and tango dancers. In this case, I try to portray the artist and not the person, in other words I portray the personage. And if there is even the musica
